Day 1 - 3 : Mwaleshi Camp North Luangwa - Dinner
On arrival you will be greeted by our representative in Lusaka Airport and escorted to your connecting flight to Mfuwe, our gateway to the South Luangwa National Park. Enjoy spectacular views from the air as you fly into the South Luangwa Valley. This flight takes just over an hour, on arrival you will be transferred to Mwaleshi Camp, located in the remote North Luangwa National Park, is situated 10km from the Mwaleshi and Luangwa river confluence
Catch a glimpse a variety of wildlife such as hyenas hunting puku hiding in the shallow waters of the Mwaleshi. Enjoy impressive herds of buffalo, the endemic Cookson’s Wildebeest and a large number of resident lion.
In the untouched North Luangwa guests are accompanied by an experienced manager/guide and an armed National Park scout. The freedom of Africa’s vastness on foot is awe inspiring. Thanks to the availability of a vehicle guest’s can be dropped off and collected, individuals are able to explore further afield either by vehicle or on a day trip to the Mwaleshi Falls, located upstream of the camp.
Day 4 : Luwi Bush Camp South Luangwa - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
This morning we say goodbye to North Luangwa to start your next adventure in South Luangwa, your guide will transfer you by vehicle to Luwi Bush Camp (approximate transfer time of 2 to 3 hours, which is a game drive through the Park). Settle in to camp and depending on your time of arrival set out on foot to explore the local area, spend time at the nearby crocodile and hippo filled lagoon, and get your bearings.
Day 5 : Sleep Out - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
For the most adventurous of spirit, have a normal morning breakfast and activity, depart Luwi Bush Camp after afternoon tea. Heading downstream towards Nsolo find a spot in the middle of the dry sand river bed to set up your bedroll and mossie net. On dusk build the camp fire and make preparations for your “Return to the Wild” sleep out night under the stars with all the luxuries of 5 star food and even your own bush toilet.
Day 6 -7 : Nsolo Camp - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Leave camp early on foot and start downstream towards Nsolo Camp, the river widens in this section and the Luwi’s white sands carve a dynamic route through open grazing lawns, palm and trichelia groves, thicket and game rich “dambos” for which the Luangwa Valley is so well known. Arrive at Nsolo in time for brunch to find your luggage waiting for you in your room. Have a rest and soak up the magical atmosphere of this, one of the oldest bush camps in the Luangwa.
Day 8, 9, 10 : Chinzombo Camp - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Time for some real luxury as you leave Nsolo Bushcamp and game drive to another area of the park. A boat awaits you to take you over the Luangwa River and into Chinzombo Camp. The camp is super-luxurious with spacious living areas that melt into the exquisite surroundings of the beautiful, tranquil site. Gigantic, ancient shade trees, peace and mystique, the views from its riverside location which teems with wildlife. With no set safari routine, you are able to set your own pace here. Enjoy game drives or walking safaris with our award winning guides, or sit back and relax on your deck and allow nature come to you. With a private plunge pool, plenty of lounge area, massive bathrooms with luxurious spa amenities.
Day 11 : Departure to Chongwe River Camp - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
This morning you will say goodbye to your guide before being transferred to Mfuwe Airport, for your flight out of the Luangwa Valley. The flight from Mfuwe is to Lusaka where you will connect to your onward flight arrangements.
For those continuing onto the Lower Zambezi, your flight via Lusaka will continue to Royal Airstrip; a short drive from there brings you to Chongwe River Camp, idyllically set on the Zambezi River. With the steep escarpment behind you and the Zambezi in front few can fail to be moved by what surrounds you at this camp. Enjoy an afternoon walk after you settle into camp.
Day 12 : Tsika Island Camp - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
This morning you will enjoy a canoe safari to the incredibly beautiful Tsika Island. Here you will overnight at a purpose-built exclusive bush camp that allows guests to enjoy a slightly different adventure of a canoe expedition along the lower Zambezi. Located about 35 kilometres upstream from Chongwe, close to the village of Mugurumeno, Tsika Island Bush Camp can accommodate six guests in three bush rooms, each with en-suite facilities.
Day 13 - 14 : Chongwe River Camp - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Today you will enjoy a leisurely canoe expedition back to Chongwe River Camp. Enjoy your last day with an afternoon walk or partake in a spot of fishing or a community visit. Chongwe supports a number of initiatives such as the Chiawa Cultural Village and Chitende High School located in Chiawa Village.
Day 15: Departure to Lusaka - Breakfast
This morning you as your trip comes to an end, say good bye to your friendly guide and staff at Chongwe. You will be transferred to the Royal Airstrip for you flight back to Lusaka. Here continue with your onward arrangements to other African destinations or for your international flight home.
